Do Better. Be Better.

Finding a well balanced training plan that leaves you feeling good shouldn’t be hard. At DB3, we aim to do just that, while making sure to educate and empower along the way

Nice to meet you. My name is Chris Reed and as you may have guessed, my mantra is to do better and be better, in everything I do. As I entered my late twenties, I realized after spending years beating my body up, fitness and training didn’t need to leave me battered and bruised. Over the past ten years, I have worked in sports medicine or sports performance at every level from youth to the pros. My time as an Athletic Trainer in the NFL (Go Bears), SEC (Woo Pig), Big Ten (ILL), and high school circuit showed me that most people can avoid injury if they simply knew how to train and deal with the stresses of modern athleticism. It also gave me a deeper understanding of the how connected our bodies are and how slight tweaks and changes can drive big results.

I would constantly deal with athletes with the same injuries over and over again and thought that there had to be a way to impact these athletes before they got to my table. This time in life helped create my current approach to training which is all about ensuring you are exposed to and prepared for all that life can throw at you. Our focus is on building well rounded programs that build well rounded people.

My time in Arizona as a Performance Coach and Director of Program Design showed me that it’s not enough to just give someone a plan and say “Best of luck!”. When you truly want to help, you have to be there to educate, to empower, and to guide. The problem with this? There’s not enough time in the day to spend with each and every person. I have since left the traditional training world behind and shifted to the online model, and such, DB3 was born. With this prior knowledge in mind, my twist on online training starts with DB3’s video instruction which aims to put a personal trainer in your pocket.

Over the last 7+ years, I went to work day in and day out creating training plans for people in every walk of life. From 11 year olds learning how to control their movement to 65 year olds trying to access mobility they thought to be long gone. To put it simply, I have seen and done it all. You’ll soon see that each exercise I have features an in depth explanation so you can have a personal trainer with you, whenever YOU want to train. No more matching up schedules to have that type of insight. It’s a new way to train online.

At the end of the day my mission is simple - do better, be better. I aim to do better, and be better for my clients, my family, and myself while helping those searching for the same thing. Those principles guide my decision making at DB3 and guide my choices each and every day. I hope that you find DB3 has what you need to do better, and be better for yourself. DB3 Programming Principles

No matter your goal, sport, or age, your program will be functional, well rounded, and designed for resiliency

In todays training world, what even is “functional”? Well, it depends on who you ask. At DB3, a functional fitness program is one that evolves with the person, focuses on more than only strength and aesthetics, and leaves a person feeling great at the end of each session. A functional training plan should be balanced with exercise selection while challenging the user in multiple planes that they frequent in everyday life and sport. When it comes down to it, we emphasize function over fluff. Every exercise and mobility drill in a program will mean something to who you are and to who you want to become.

Being well rounded means more than just doing an equal number of body parts per week. A well-rounded programs looks at the person and what their challenges are, and addresses those challenges head on. This may mean that your program may feature more mobility drills than strength, or more stability drills than power exercises. And that’s okay. At DB3, we understand that the body must work together in a certain order to be ready for the challenges of life and sport. Our programming is customized to fit the needs of the person in question. We will always give you what you need, while also balancing what keeps you coming back to the gym, day after day.

Are you built to handle everything that life throws at you? The answer is different for everyone. Some people need to be built to last an entire season in contact sports, others want to hit the trails during the weekend and be able to walk the next day. Resiliency is all about bouncing back from the physical toll that life takes on a person. At DB3, we ensure our athletes are built to last by not just focusing on strength and aesthetics. You will be doing mobility, stability, balance, cardio, strength, power, and more throughout your program. A DB3 athlete (yes we are all athletes), has no fear taking on a new challenge because they know that they are built tough by a program that checks all the boxes for the modern person.
